First full day

We are having a great time! Here is the rundown from today, January 4th.

Great Israeli breakfast at the hotel (breads, salads, eggs, fish, more salads, juice, strong coffee, etc.). Then we were off to Mount Bental in the Golan Heights for a first-hand look at the strategic and geographic importance of the area. We could see from the Golan into Syria, even through the fog and rain.

We enjoyed jeep rides on the Golan and a little excursion into the area. Then we had lunch in Katzrin, the major city in the Golan area. Everyone got a taste of Israeli retail and some people braved the falafel.

We had a tour of an olive press and learned about the region's most famous crop. Delicious olive oil flowed freely!

Back at our hotel we had a long conversation about how American Jews relate to Israel and vice versa. We also prepared for tomorrow's meeting with the 8 Israeli soldiers who will join our group.

Dinner is right now, ,and we will spend the evening at the Tiberias promenade.

More to come, but for now rest assured we are having a great experience!
